A pair of Finnish companies are teaming up to address transparent conductive oxide glass coating applications for the solar PV industry. Coating and ALD equipment firm Beneq and major glass technology company Glaston have signed a strategic cooperation agreement intended to provide a framework for joint efforts in development and delivery of systems for continuous production of TCO-coated glass.
Beneq will employ its expertise in developing and providing aerosol technologies for advanced thin film coatings, such as TCOs as well as antireflective and low-e materials. Glaston will provide its continuous flat glass heat-treatment technology knowledge.
“This cooperation is a welcome addition to our offering in the growing solar segment,” said Beneq CEO Sampo Ahonen. “Beneq and its customers will benefit greatly from the partnership with Glaston, opening a whole new world of opportunities in equipment, applications and service networks.
“Beneq has been and is getting more and more involved in the solar market, and this collaboration will act as a decisive step in reaching more customers, serving them better and seeing our projects through.”
“Glaston has been successfully addressing the growing solar market segment with various processing technologies in glass preprocessing and heat treatment,” said Glaston CEO/President Arto Metsanen. “The Beneq-Glaston concept integrates both technologies in a new innovative way within this fast growing market segment. Our solution gives our customers remarkable added value to grow their business in a profitable way.”
