Big Solar and SolarEdge Technologies have extended their joint venture by agreeing to install a further 4MW of commercial, residential and rooftop systems in Greece. The contract extension has been prompted by rising demand for SolarEdge’s three-phase inverter and will help Big Solar increase its already-significant presence in the expanding Greek solar sector.
Big Solar will manage the planning, construction and management of the proposed plants, where it will install SolarEdge’s module-integrated power optimisers, single- and three-phase solar inverters – ranging between 3.3 and 12.5kW – and a PV monitoring portal for module-level diagnostics. Since Q3 2010 Big Solar has sold more than 200 residential SolarEdge systems.
“We were impressed by the SolarEdge solution from the beginning, but now we have a track record that speaks for itself,” Big Solar general manager Fragiskos Valavanis said. “We have many satisfied customers with installed SolarEdge systems. In one case, our customer installed two residential 5kW systems side by side, one with a leading traditional inverter and the other with a SolarEdge system. The SolarEdge system constantly produces 4-6% more energy which translates into significant financial gains for the home owner”.
“Big Solar’s business experience and strong market position combined with the extended SolarEdge portfolio create an ideal fit for the wide opportunities in the Greek PV market,” added Zvi Lando, vice president of global sales at SolarEdge.
