Canadian Solar and the Ningxia Electric Power Group have finished work on a 10MW ground-mounted PV system in northwest China. The joint development is part of a larger 50MW plant in the Hongsibao district of Ningxia and will generate around 13.5 million kWh of electricity a year.
The project is comprised of an 8MW fixed system and a 2MW tracking system. Ningxia Power funded the project, while Canadian Solar partner Gaochuangte New Energy served as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor.
“This is the first step of a strategic collaboration between Canadian Solar and Ningxia Power Group. Canadian Solar's global technology and finance experience in solar power plant EPC will definitely help the development of solar power plants in China,” Yingkuan Liu, Ningxia Power Group’s chairman, said.
“Canadian Solar has built a strong track record of EPC project development and execution in top solar markets worldwide. We are actively working to build on this momentum in China and worldwide, including recent news of Canadian Solar's agreement to sell nine solar projects in Canada valued at approximately CAN$470 million,” Canadian Solar chairman Dr. Shawn Qu added.
