Canadian Solar has signed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for a 140MW project being developed by Samsung Renewable Energy.
The agreement with Kingston Solar LP is the second phase of Samsung’s Green Energy Investment Agreement (GEIA). Canadian Solar is already working on the first phase, the 130MW Grand Renewable Energy Park in Haldimand County. Both projects are in Ontario.
Canadian Solar expects the new agreement to generate it CA$300 million in revenue.
“We believe that this transaction demonstrates that our proven solar project experience, global reach as well as strong partner relationships sets Canadian Solar apart as a leading provider of solar energy solutions on a global basis, positioning us well to participate in the expected growth of solar energy deployment in the quarters and years ahead,” said Shawn Qu, chairman and CEO, Canadian Solar.
The installation will use 464,000 Ontario-made Canadian Solar Maxpower CS6X modules.
Work is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2014 with the plant fully operational in the third quarter of 2015.
