Motech Industries, Inc. has announced the replacement for Leo Cheng,former Chairman and President, who tendered his resignation from theposts for personal health reasons.  Stepping into the new vacancy isSimon Tsuo (pictured), Director of the Board and CEO of Motech SolarElectricity Division. The role handover came into effect on January10th, 2008.

Consarc Corporation has announced that it will form a new division tobuild and market furnaces for solar grade silicon volume production.The company currently makes vacuum and controlled atmosphere furnacetechnologies for the processing of metals, specialty alloys andengineered materials. Consarc is a subsidiary of Inductotherm Group.

Komax Group said that 2007 sales increased by approximately 10 percent, reaching CHF 350 million. Asia growth was put at 70 percent, while European revenues grew by 1 percent. Order intake rose by 19 percent from CHF 328 million in 2006 to CHF 389 million in 2007.

In a test using prototype silicon carbide-based MOSFETs (Metal OxideSemiconductor Field Effect Transistors) manufactured by CREE, theFraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE has said it hasachieved a maximum efficiency rating of 98.5 percent for photovoltaicinverters, the highest such rating to date, according to the institute.

XsunX has said that it has signed an additional 36MW of module purchasecommitments under its Solar Module Pre-Sales Reservation Program. Thecompany claims that total reservations have now reached approximately145MW for delivery in the 2009, 2010 and 2011 period.

aleo solar AG has said that it has won a follow-on order worth €17million for a new solar farm in the Navarre province, Spain with energysupplier SOLARTIA. The new order has meant business with SOLARTIA hasreached €62 million and there exists an option for more solar modulesin 2008 worth nearly €5 million, the company said.

LDK Solar has signed a 500MW, ten-year multicrystalline solar wafersupply contract with Neo Solar Power Corp., a subsidiary ofTaiwan-based semiconductor foundry UMC. Multicrystalline waferdeliveries are expected to start in 2009.

ersol Thin Film GmbH has announced its first commercial sales contractfor its ‘Nova-T’ solar modules since investing over €80 million in theproduction of thin-film modules. The contract is with K+C Schmidt GbRfor the supply of approximately 500 kWp modules, which is expected togo on stream shortly in Grevenbroich, Germany, the company said.

BioSolar has said that its backsheet material developed from renewableplant sources has passed the UL testing protocol 1703, Damp Heat Test,which subjects the material to 1000 hours at 85 degrees and 85%humidity. The test was successfully completed on January 16, 2008, thecompany said.
