Joined by the Mayor of Grimmen and repeat private investor, Stephan Johannsen, Conergy officially connected its 8MW solar plant near Stralsund to the grid, making it one of the largest solar parks in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern to achieve such status. The company noted that all of the projects components were from its domestic manufacturing facilities. The project has been installed on over 20 hectare and uses around 35,000 Conergy PowerPlus modules from its Oder facility. It is expected to generate nearly 8 million kWh of solar power per year.
This is the third joint solar park that Johannsen and Conergy have developed. With the private investors help, the Tarp and Hörup power plants were installed, as well as 10 Conergy rooftop plants with a total capacity of around 2MW.
“We have a great responsibility towards our children. Obtaining emission-free energy from regenerative sources is an important step in ensuring that they will be able to live in an intact environment,” said Johannsen. “For me, environmental and climate protection starts directly at my front door. That is also the reason why we will expand our solar involvement from the region and for the region further.”
