Conergy has denied rumours that it is to close down its manufacturing plant in Frankfurt, Germany, reports PV Magazine. The announcement comes after reports that Conergy was looking to downscale manufacturing in Frankfurt by closing certain production lines.
Jobs have already been shed in Frankfurt and with rumors circulating that sales and distribution will be moved to Hamburg, Conergy held a meeting, attended by 200 employees, to clarify the situation.
A Conergy spokesperson denied that the facility would close, also stating that no decision had been made over how production-cost efficiencies could be gained as part of the company’s debt-relief efforts.
However, the spokesperson also stressed that a solution to the price pressure, caused by weak market conditions and competition from Chinese manufacturers, still had to be found in order for Conergy to stay competitive.
Conergy will further clarify the future of the Frankfurt site at its annual general meeting on Friday.
