Gathering experts from the science, political and business worlds, Dii is forming an advisory board to create the basis for generating sustainable and climate-friendly power in the deserts of North Africa and the Middle East and supplying carbon-free energy to producer nations and Europe. The board will be chaired by Professor Hans Müller-Steinhagen (pictured), director of the Institute of Technical Thermodynamics at the German Aerospace Center.
Paul van Son, CEO of Dii, said, “In the coming years, our initiative will have to answer a variety of specific questions regarding the development of renewable energies, the implementation of appropriate transmission grids or the establishment of efficient energy markets. Therefore, it is of greatest importance for us to be able to build upon the expertise of these high-level capacities.”
Additional members of the board include Abdelkrim Benghanem, former CEO of Sonelgaz; Driss Benhima, CEO of Royal Air Maroc and former CEO of ONE; Professor Louis Lemkow, director of the Institute for Environmental Science and Technology at the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona; Philippe Lorec, Ministry of Ecology, Energy and Sustainable Development and representative for the Mediterranean Solar Plan; and Professor Elmar Wagner, general secretary of Dii’s advisory board and executive director of the Fraunhofer Institute for physical measurement.
