US energy producer Dominion has reached a deal to acquire a 20MW solar project from renewable energy project developer EDF Renewable Energy.
The acquisition is expected to be finalised this year and before the project commences operation.
The project, known as the CID solar project, is located in King’s County, California, near the city of Corcoran. The facility has already been locked into a 20-year power-purchase agreement (PPA), as well as an interconnection deal and an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) agreement.
David A. Christian, chief executive officer for Dominion Generation, said:” California leads the nation in solar generation and the experience and knowledge we gather there will serve us well as we expand our solar portfolio into other areas. This project fits well within our portfolio of regulated and long-term contracted assets.”
The acquisition will increase Dominion’s total PV portfolio to 232MW. The company acquired six other California PV projects in April totaling 139MW, as well as two Tennessee projects totaling 32MW and 41MW of PV facilities located in Georgia, Connecticut and Indiana.
