Dow Corning, LG Electronics and South Korea’s Seowon University have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the installation of PV systems that use LG Electronics modules made with Dow Corning silicon encapsulation technology. The modules will be installed on a rooftop PV system on Seowon University.
The organizations noted that installation on the Seowon campus will occur this year, with a planned 15kW array to be put in for testing and evaluation. Future plans include the installation of a 1MW array that may be installed for potential commercial usage. The PV systems will further provide performance monitoring of Dow Corning’s silicone and ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) module encapsulants.
“Dow Corning is proud to work on innovative technology with LG Electronics and Seowon University. We share a culture of innovation and a dedication to renewable, solar power,” said Eric Peeters, VP of Dow Corning. “We anticipate these PV systems made with Dow Corning silicone encapsulants will produce the same improved performance and reduced panel degradation that we’ve demonstrated in lab tests.”
