Conversion Devices, Inc. (ECD) has announced today that its UNI-SOLAR
thin-film flexible solar laminates have been chosen to power a 12MW
system on the rooftop of General Motors in Figueruelas, Zaragoza,
Spain. The laminates for the system will be supplied by ECD through its
wholly owned subsidiary, United Solar Ovonic, LLC. The project, which
will be ready for use in fall of 2008, will be the world’s largest
rooftop solar power system upon completion.
General Motors has previously used UNI-SOLAR laminates in projects in their parts warehouses in Rancho Cucamonga and Fontana, California. The Figueruelas system will provide approximately 15 million kilowatt hours per annum and will be built, owned and operated by Clairvoyant Energy and Veolia Environnement, to whom GM will lease its roof space.
