Enecsys has appointed Peter Mathews as its vice president of North American sales. Matthews joins Enecsys from Solyndra and will start his new role immediately.
Mathews, who has a BSc in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University, arrives at Enecsys with over 24 years of experience in the technology industry behind him; he has held senior sales and marketing roles at Rogers Corporation, Raychem, Micromodule Systems and Formfactor.
“We’re very pleased to welcome a senior executive with extensive experience of the North American solar PV market to the Enecsys team,” said Enecsys’ CEO, Henrik Raunkjaer. “Enecsys is changing the economic model of solar PV with products that bring new levels of value and reliability to such installations. Peter’s expertise will make a critical contribution in helping the industry understand the technical and commercial issues that determine the right choice of inverter and, in particular, the factors that determine the reliability of a PV system.”
“Next generation power electronics are becoming one of the key differentiators in the solar PV market. Micro-inverters represent a disruptive technology that can accelerate the timing of grid parity economics in solar PV. I have found the value propositions of the Enecsys micro-inverter compelling. I look forward to being part of the outstanding management team at Enecsys,” added Matthews.
Enecsys was recently awarded UL certification for its 240-watt micro-inverter – the world’s first inverter without electrolytic capacitors to receive the certificate – and Matthews will be responsible for selling the industry-leading product to the U.S. market.
