Energy solutions provider Enerdynamic Hybrid Technologies has commenced construction on over 143 PV rooftop installations in Ontario, Canada, for a total portfolio of over 38MW.
The whole swath of installations will be developed and connected to the Ontario electricity grid and will be boosted by 20-year power purchase agreements (PPA) with the Ontario government. The PPAs were handed out under the FIT (feed-in-tariff) 3.0 Program and will offer a rate of 32.9 cents per kWh of electricity generated. The plants will produce more than US$15 million in yearly revenue.
The first rooftop installation will be developed on the Hazel McCallion Public School in the municipality of Peel, Ontario. Construction on the site will begin in March 2015, while the remaining plants will be developed on various school rooftops in the Peel District School Board portfolio.
Enerdynamic Hybrid Technologies expects to develop at least three PV installations per month in 2015 and up to five sites per month in 2016 and 2017.
The installations will provide clean energy to 3,500 homes and offset approximately 13,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
