Envision Solar International, a designer and manufacturer of solar shaded parking, and Horizon Energy Group, a microgrid developer, have teamed up to develop several solar shaded parking projects which incorporate BIPV.
As reported by PV-Tech’s sister site Design-Build Solar, under a collaboration agreement, the companies will announce a number of solar shaded parking projects in which Horizon and their partners, Green Energy Corp and McKim Creed Green, will act as the lead project development and delivery team. Envision Solar will be the exclusive provider of solar support structures such as its Solar Tree Array, Socket with EnvisionTrak tracking and SunCharge integrated electric vehicle charging.
The first project is expected to be announced shortly.
Desmond Wheatley, CEO of Envision Solar, commented: “This teaming agreement will ensure that our joint customers get the most from both of our companies. Horizon gets the best solar shaded parking products and Envision Solar gets the best project development, battery storage and microgrid partner in the industry. Win, Win.”
Microgrids comprise of renewable energy resources, high-efficiency combined heat and power solutions, advanced energy storage, and intelligent grid management systems.
According to Horizon, microgrids “form an essential element of the future of energy distribution in the US and globally”. The company also forecasts that annual project investments associated with microgrids are expected to reach US$2 billion by 2015.
