Canadian Solar has adopted Merck’s and RENA’s new advanced technology for its high-efficiency p-type solar cell technology, achieving a 21.1% efficiency on monocrystalline solar cells, according to in-house testing. Canadian Solar implemented the technology in the efficient long-term PV solution high-efficiency cell structure.
Merck states that its isishape pastes ensure homogeneous and well controllable etching, leading to an efficiency gain of 0.5%.
RENA’s cleaning technology InClean is specially designed for Merck’s isishape, ensuring a “perfect match between consumable, process and equipment platform”, insists the company. RENA’s InClean is available as an upgrade for existing lines or can be integrated into a RENA InOxSide tool for junction isolation and phosphor glass (PSG) removal.
