Oerlikon Solar is to launch a new thin-film PV module with an efficiency of 10.8% and an output of 154 peak watts, the company announced today. Described by Oerlikon as ‘record-breaking’, the module achieves an 8% increase over its modules’ previous peak value.
Oerlikon provides automated turnkey manufacturing lines and equipment for the production of thin-film modules, and its latest module will be available for use on its ThinFab lines by early next year.
“We are committed to investing in research and development in order to further reduce production costs for solar modules, and to make photovoltaics an economically viable energy source,” said Oerlikon's CEO, Helmut Frankenberger. “The new record indicates how advanced our thin film silicon technology is.”
Oerlikon Solar is currently exhibiting at the 26th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC) in Hamburg, Germany, and can be found at booths A4/A12.
