One of the many press conferences taking place at this year’s EU PVSEC was hosted on Tuesday by Vacon, the power converter company. Vacon’s executives outlined the company’s global strategy, stating that the company’s involvement in the solar, wind and biofuel industries is leading to their logging a production capacity of near 6GW this year.
The company connects several of its inverters in parallel, which means that only the required number of inverter modules is used. In the event of a breakdown of one module in five, for example, the resulting annual decrease in power is only 4%, according to the company. The Vacon 8000 Solar inverter series is available in models from 10–1000kW.
