Florian Holzapfel, an executive board member of Q-Cells since 2006, will now take over as CEO of Calyxo, a subsidiary of Q-Cells SE Germany, effective the beginning of 2010.
Calyxo, which manufactures CdTe thin-film solar, plans a large-scale ramp-up of its production. This means that one of Holzapfel’s first responsibilities will be to secure extra financing for the company’s further expansion.
One of his responsibilities on the executive board at Q-Cells in 2006 was technology development in the wafer-based silicon area. Since the beginning of 2009 he moved on from this to develop a new technologies division at Q-Cells.
“We have conferred the position of CEO on Dr Florian Holzapfel because we want to ensure that Calyxo’s highly promising thin-film technology will become a success story, and Dr. Holzapfel’s experience in this area will help Calyxo significantly,” said Anton Milner, CEO of Q-Cells.
