Engineering firm, Fluor Corporation, has announced the completion of a 170MW solar plant.
The project is located in El Centro, Southern California.
US independent power produce, LS Power owns the solar plant, named ‘Centinela Solar’.
Construction began in December 2012, creating hundreds of local jobs for Imperial Valley workers.
The solar plant has 875,000 solar panels installed across a 1,600 acre site.
Fluor successfully completed the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and commissioned the solar plant.
Fluor is also to operate and maintain the plant for the next five years.
John King, executive vice president of LS Power said: “Having achieved this important milestone, Centinela will serve California and the region with clean, renewable energy for decades to follow.”
Fluor also completed the 125MW Arlington Valley Solar Energy II facility in Maricopa County, Arizona, for LS Power in 2013.
