The French energy producer, Poweo has announced that it has obtained the necessary authorization for the construction of its 12MW solar power plant to Toreilles (Pyrénées-Orientales), to be commissioned in 2010.
The Poweo plant will have a 12MWp capacity, providing the equivalent of the annual electricity consumption of 5,800 homes.
The French energy producer has obtained building permits and permissions while the choice of partner for the construction is being finalised; the project it expected to begin in fourth quarter 2009, a service provided for summer 2010.
The central Toreilles, which represents an investment estimated at €40 million, is part of the large portfolio of solar projects under development by Poweo, representing a potential capacity of 130MWp.
Poweo aims to have completed 25% of its production capacity achieved by producing energy from renewable sources.
