Labelled the Alsace region’s second-largest PV roof system in the area, Gehrlicher Solar France’s 2.9MWp solar power plant in Hombourg near Mulhouse, east France was connected to the grid in mid-August 2011.
Constructed on seven warehouse roofs on an overall area of 22,000m2, the plant is owned and was funded by Ecosun Expert. Gehrlicher teamed with contractor Adsoba to install the 12,609 modules and 167 inverters on the warehouse rooftops.
“We are pleased to have been able to connect the system to the grid in advance of the planned date and therefore to secure the feed-in tariff of 0.602 euros per kilowatt hour,” commented Wolfgang Rosenberg, managing director of Gehrlicher Solar France SAS. “This project shows the massive potential of the roofs of commercially and industrially used buildings, in particular, for solar generation. We plan to complete further large-scale photovoltaic projects in France in the coming months.”
