Gehrlicher Solar has sold its 1.9MW system at the Audi manufacturing facility in Baden-Württemberg to PT Energiefonds Neckarsulm for €4.65 million. The 27,000 square-metre array is situated on the roof of the factory’s car park and the sale was finalised in shortly before the end of 2010.
“These type of projects show the large, yet unexplored, potential rooftop systems offer in Germany. In the meantime, we can also reach the megawatt range regularly,” said Steffen Licht, head of the Rooftop Business Unit at Gehrlicher Solar.
“Sustainable investments are still en vogue, this also applies for fund structuring and direct investments. We are proud to be able to offer the capital market a clear, structured and profitable investment that will gain additional prestige by having Audi AG as lessor. Gehrlicher Solar AG has proved to be a well-known, experienced and reliable partner. We are confident we will continue to realize joint projects in the future,” added PT Erneuerbare Energien’s sales agent, Andreas Schießer.
Audi’s rooftop array is comprised of 10,700 Sunower modules, 62 Kaco inverters and a gehrtec FLAT substructure; it was connected to the grid in September and can generate 1.8 million kWh of electricity annually.
