As part of the Fovēre Glenbarra Energy Fund IV, a partnership fund between Fovēre Investments and Glenbarra Energy Management (GEMCO) for the advancement of solar energy projects in Ontario, GEMCO will install up to 8MW, or 800, ground-mounted MicroFIT PV solar systems in Southern Ontario. The fund has bought the rights to lease the land where the solar projects will be constructed and will provide financing for the installations.
Darren Cooper, president of GEMCO, states, “We have christened this ‘Project Sunshine’. The portfolio represents approximately 8MW and should substantially boost solar's image in Ontario empowering homeowners, farmers, and communities to take a more active role in reducing the use of traditional energy guzzling systems and contributing to a cleaner environment for future generations.”
As general contractor, GEMCO will manage the design, installation and long-term maintenance of the projects. Each system is 10kW and is anticipated to generate 16,000kWh of AC energy.
