Saudi Arabia-based renewable energy contractor, Green Gulf, signed initial agreements during Intersolar Europe last week with Kinetics for a 750MW solar wafer plant and a 200MW module assembly plant with Meyer Burger.
Green Gulf has initial plans to produce 750MW of ingots and wafers per annum, which will be split between 500MW of multicrystalline ingots and wafers and 250MW of monocrystalline ingots and wafers. The wafer plant will be located in Yanbu, west Saudi Arabia.
Kinetics will be responsible for full projects engineering for both wafer and module plants, according to Green Gulf.
The company had previously stated on its website that the first phase of its module production plans was a 200MW plant, which was expected to start production in the fourth quarter of 2013.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
