Solar Universe has completed its US$7 million Series B funding round, which was led by RockPort Capital Partners and further supported by returning investors. With the funds from the Series B funding round, Solar Universe expects to expand its business into new regions and increase its product offerings. In addition, the company has welcomed Kevin Daughtery as executive vice president of operations and Laurie Anthony Baggio as chief development officer.

Steed Technology recently completed the full acquisition of outstanding stock for Applied Technology Specialists (ATSI). Steed has confirmed that manufacturing of all products will remain in Northern California, while research and development will continue in Oklahoma. Both companies will now operate under the Steed name.

Sulfurcell has secured €18.8 million in equity funding for the expansion and marketing of its second-generation thin-film PV technology. The majority of investment came from Intel Capital.

The Murfreesboro Solar Project has not broken ground yet, but that has not stopped GreenCo Solutions and the North Carolina Electric Membership Corporation (NCEMC) from announcing their intent to buy renewable energy certificates (REC) and electricity, respectively, from the solar project that Duke Energy acquired from SunPower in December 2010.

Bayern Munich football club has signed a three-year sponsorship contract with Chinese PV manufacturers Yingli Green Energy. The deal will see Yingli become an Official Premium Partner of the four-time European Cup winning team, granting it marketing rights in areas such as ticketing, hospitality, advertising, and public relations.

Kisco has agreed to become Tera-Barrier Films’ exclusive distributor in the Asia-Pacific region after making a strategic investment in the Singapore-based company. Kisco made the investment during Tera’s Series A investment round and its funding will help Tera’s attempts to bring its moisture-resistant films for solar cells to market.

MHH Solartechnik has signed a multiyear contract to sell Solar Frontier’s next-generation CIS modules to its German customers. Solartechnik will begin selling the modules in March, with the total volume of sales expected to exceed 100MW.
