The Dow Powerhouse solar shingle, manufactured by Dow Chemical, has received Underwriters Laboratories (UL) safety certification after passing over 50 individual tests to measure its safety and building standards. UL testing included wind and fire resistance testing as well as validating proper wiring and PV connection. The Dow Powerhouse shingle achieved UL 746, 1703, 1897, 790, 486 and 514.

RMT will be entering the Canadian renewable energy market as RMT Canada Construction and offer site development support, engineering and construction services for wind and solar energy facilities. RMT has been in the designing and building business for wind energy since 1996 and currently has their engineering, procurement and construction services utilized at over 429MW of wind energy and 340MW of solar energy projects.

The juwi group has established a subsidiary in India which the company has branded 'juwi India Renewable Energies.' The additional facility, which is headquartered in Bangalore, will begin working on solar power installations in India in 2011, with the aim of installing over 100MW of solar power in the next few years.

E.ON Germany has revealed plans to add 16.3MW of solar power generation capacity in Italy as the company aims to expand Italy's rapidly growing solar market. The utility is to construct four photovoltaic installations, two of which are expected to be complete by April next year.

Because of expected tool deliveries and customer acceptances by year's end, solar manufacturing equipment supplier Meyer Burger Technology Group has increased its guidance on net sales for fiscal year 2010. The company, which saw an increase in net sales of 67% to CHF356.9 million (US$363.1 million) during the first half of the year, has boosted its forecast on net sales for 2010, from the previously announced CHF730 million (US$742.7 million) to approximately CHF800 million (US$813.8 million)—nearly double the CHF420.9 million ($428 million) intake achieved in 2009.

Currently with 160MW solar cell manufacturing capacity, Indosolar is making a major bid to become a leading cell producer in India with a wafer supply deal sealed with GCL-Poly amounting to 815MW at a cost of approximately US$600 million over the next four years. The deal also highlights the rapid growth and industry acceptance of GCL-Poly as a major player, having recently reached a polysilicon production cost of US$25.4/kg in the third quarter of 2010 and wafer sales of 435MW at a manufacturing cost of US$0.58 per watt.

Solar inverter firm Satcon Technology has posted another record revenue quarter equating to year-on-year growth of 480%. Third-quarter revenue reached US$58.4 million, with over US$200 million in bookings for the first nine months, representing 800MW of orders. Satcon is also seeing growth outside of North America, where orders from Europe are 29% of bookings and Asia Pacific 17%.

3W Power Holdings, the holding company of AEG Power Solutions (AEG PS), has reported its financial results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2010. While Q3'10 is typically a weak quarter cyclically for AEG PS, due to traditionally slower trading in Europe in August, the solar segment still came out on top.

The International Court of Arbitration has ruled that the wafer supply contract between LDK Solar and Helios Technology, signed back in October 2008, is in fact valid and effective throughout its duration and at terms and conditions related to quantities and prices set forth therein.
