NRG Solar is set to expand its power generation portfolio by opening a 20MW plant in Santa Teresa, New Mexico. The company plans to invest US$21 million over the next three years in the Roadrunner Solar Electric Facility, which will be constructed by First Solar and sold to El Paso Electric under a 20-year power purchase agreement.

The Port of Los Angeles’ World Cruise Center has been making several improvements to modernize their facility including one the installation of a 1MW rooftop solar system. The recently completed installation is expected to generate 1.2 million kWh of electricity per year to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power energy grid.

DuPont Apollo, a subsidiary of DuPont, and China Everbright International have put the finishing touches on a 1.3MW rooftop PV installation at DuPont Apollo’s Shenzhen, China, production facility. The two companies assert that this is the largest single structure thin-film PV rooftop installation in China.

SunEdison has agreed to build two solar PV plants for Arizona Public Service (APS) that will have a combined capacity of 37MW. The 17MW Hyder solar plant and 20MW Chino Valley solar plant, which APS will take ownership of once completed, will bring APS’s renewable energy portfolio to almost 682MW by 2013.

Phoenix Solar E.P.E., the Greek subsidiary of Phoenix Solar, will construct a 2MW grid-connected photovoltaic plant in the vicinity of Nafpaktos, central Greece for Greek investment group, Douneika Energy EE. The project was developed by the investors with the assistance of Athens-based Phoenix Solar E.P.E., and is financed by an unnamed Greek bank. This is Phoenix Solar E.P.E.'s largest contract to date.

SolarWorld is supplying five medical centers in Port-au-Prince, Haiti with 440 of its 230-watt Sunmodule PV panels to power equipment, refrigeration and air conditioning. The panels comprise the the third shipment SolarWorld has sent to the Haitian capital since it was struck by a catastrophic earthquake last January.

REC Solar has agreed a contract with Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market to install roof-mounted solar systems on nine Arizona stores. Installation of the systems, which will generate more than 410kW of energy and produce around 620,000kWh annually, is scheduled to start in March 2011.

Scheuten Solar has finished work on three turnkey PV systems for Italian furniture manufacturer Natuzzi SpA. The rooftop facilities in Santeramo in Colle, Matera and Laterza consist of approximately 14,000 panels, took two-and-a-half months to complete and will reduce Natuzzi's annual CO2 emissions by 3400 tonnes.
