Ashoka and Canopus Foundation announced the winners of the “Solar for All” design contest at an awards ceremony held during Intersolar North America. The competition has been running for the past six months with the aim of finding the best solar PV innovations, combining both affordable and technical solutions with a developed market approach.
“With over 3.5 billion people lacking reliable access to electricity, the growth potential of the solar PV market in developing countries is immense,” said Markus Elsaesser, CEO of Solar Promotion International.
Greenlight Planet was awarded the US$250,000 first prize, invested by the Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation, while Kaito Energie received €10,000 from Good Energies as runner up. Promethean Power Provider went home with the ERM Award.
