The Intersolar trade show is expanding into India, colocating with the Solarcon 2009 event to be held at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre on Nov. 9-11. The move into the subcontinent adds a third show to the Intersolar roster, joining existing events in Munich and San Francisco, and also increases Intersolar’s partnership with the SEMI PV Group, the global industry association that produces Solarcon.
The organizers say that the combination of Solarcon and Intersolar creates the leading conference for the photovoltaics industry in India, one that will feature a three-day program and inaugural accompanying exhibition, which they say should be greatly expanded for 2010 and onward.
This year’s conference features 12 tracks and will focus on the development of the Indian PV market, including the federal National Solar Mission initiative, which calls for 20GW of solar power to be installed in the country by 2020.
The event will be inaugurated Nov. 9 by key officials from the governments of India and Andhra Pradesh as well as industry leaders. Eicke Weber, director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems, will deliver the keynote.
