Silfab and Espe have signed a joint venture agreement, which details each company’s equal participation in their newly formed Espe Sunparc solar company. The new company will be based out of Padova, Italy and focus on the development and installation of high-efficiency PV plants in Italy and abroad. Espe Sunparc will have a 37,673 square foot facility in Padova, Italy, which will primarily focus on Italian ground-mounted solar applications and is incorporating a western operation under the name of Espe Sunparc America for a wider range of PV applications throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Espe Sunparc has already estimated that in 2011 it will develop solar plants, which total a 70MW output; with 30% of the plants completed outside of Italy. Its expected overall turnover for the year will exceed €100 million.
Franco Traverso, the current president and CEO for Silfab, will lead Espe Sunparc as its CEO and president, while Tiziano Meneghetti, president and CEO of Espe, will act as the new company’s vice president. Espe Sunparc has already started negotiations with international module manufacturers and plans to invest €20 million towards the development of solar farms in Sardinia, Apulia and Molise, Italy. In international terms, Espe received authorization for a 15MW solar project in Romania, is putting a power plant into service in Ontario and anticipates shortly beginning additional solar installations in several other countries.
“Today the photovoltaic sector consists of many actors and innumerable products” – comments Tiziano Meneghetti, president of Espe – “only a few of these, however, are able to guarantee the quality of their products, based on tangible experience from three decades of operating in this field. Espe Sunparc is born from almost forty years of combined experience between Espe and Silfab. Our main concern is the serenity of our customers, and through our reliable and durable high-yield solutions, we can guarantee they’ll feel satisfied”.
