Three new solar projects equalling almost 30MW are to be built in New Jersey by juwi solar for PSEG Solar Source, a division of U.S. utility PSEG (Public Service Enterprise Group). All three projects will use a total of 380,000 of First Solar’s CdTe thin film panels in ground mounted locations. Combined the projects will cost approximately US$100 million.
“PSEG Solar Source is pleased to have established a relationship with juwi solar on these projects,” said Diana Drysdale, who heads PSEG Global’s solar business. “PSEG Solar Source will continue to seek opportunities throughout the U.S. to help address climate change and help states meet their solar and renewable targets.”
The projects include a 2.2MW facility located on 18 acres adjacent to Mars Snackfood’s U.S. headquarters in Western New Jersey. It is targeted for completion in 2009. A 15MW solar farm in Jacksonville, Florida is expected to begin construction shortly and targeted to begin commercial operation in the summer of 2010, while the third project (12MW) is located in Wyandot, Ohio. construction will start by the end of the year and to begin commercial operation in 2010.
