Komax Group said that new order intake increased by 28% to CHF368.3 million in 2013, including an improved order intake for its PV arm, Komax Solar.
According to the company, Komax Solar, a leading PV tabbing and stringing equipment supplier, had achieved a significant increase in new orders last year, despite market conditions of overcapacity and lack of capital expenditure.
New order intake at Komax Solar increased from just CHF9.0 million (US$9.8 million) in 2012 to CHF 24.4 million (US$26.7 million) in 2013.
However, Komax Group said in a statement that the PV industry still remains in overcapacity and remained “in a crisis”. Komax Solar was said to have secured a number of important orders from the few projects put out to tender in 2013.
According to previous financial reports, Komax Solar had sales of CHF70.8 million in 2011.
Komax reiterated that it was still pursuing a sell-off of Komax Solar and that developments were “line with expectations.”
