Konarka Technologies has welcomed a new Vice President of European business development and Vice President of Materials Development. Alex Valenzuela and Alessandro Zedda have joined the company in these roles respectively.
Valenzuela joins the company with extensive experience in the solar energy market in Europe. He will focus on business development efforts to further expand and deliver the company’s thin-film solar material fabricated from organic photovoltaics (OPV) into the region.
Previous to this role, Valenzuela was regional manager at United Solar Ovonic, focusing on development efforts in Spain and Portugal. He is fluent in Spanish, German, Russian and English and holds a master’s degree in business administration from the IE Business School in Madrid, Spain and a bachelor’s degree in architecture. Valenzuela will report directly to Dr. Terri Jordan, vice president of business development, at Konarka.
Zedda will lead Konarka’s materials and device research and partnerships in developing higher performing organic photovoltaic (OPV) modules.
Most recently, was head of the company’s business printed electronics responsible for the research and development of printable semiconductor materials based on proprietary low band-gap conjugated polymers and other applications. He started his career as a scientist at the Advanced Fluorine Chemistry Research at Ausimont in Milan, Italy and holds 30 patents and publications worldwide.
Both Valenzuela and Alessandro will be available at EU PVSEC.
