Japan’s Kyocera has begun construction on a 29.2MW solar plant in Yonago, Tottori Prefecture.
The installation, know as the “Tottori Yonago Mega Solar Power Plant” is expected to generate enough energy to power around 11,000 homes and is being developed on land that includes a former golf course site.
The project is expected to be completed in March 2018.
This is not the first time that Kyocera has turned to golf courses as a venue to develop PV projects. In July, Kyocera announced the development of a 23MW plant on an abandoned golf course near Kyoto, while also planning a 92MW installation on a golf course in Kagoshima Prefecture back in May.
