Major monocrystalline wafer producer Longi Silicon Materials subsidiary, Lerri Photovoltaic Technology has signed a technology development agreement with DuPont to boost solar cell efficiencies and PV module reliability.
Longi said in a financial statement that the strategic cooperation agreement with DuPont related to its solar cell and module subsidiary.
The companies would also collaborate using DuPont’s ‘Solamet’ metallisation pastes to boost solar cell conversion efficiencies, Longi said.
According to PV Tech’s recent update on the analysis of capacity expansion announcements, Longi is planning a 2GW expansion of cell/module capacity at Lerri Photovoltaic and has recently received financing for the plans through a private placement of shares.
Work on a new manufacturing complex is expected to start by mid-2016.
Longi said the agreement with DuPont would last through to the end of June 2016.
