Madico, a manufacturer of PV backsheets, has expanded its Performance Analysis Lab.
The internal facility is used by Madico’s R&D division to perform tests on their range of PV backsheets, including their Protekt backsheet, allowing them to scrutinise properties such as weatherability, electrical insulation and mechanical, optical and surface characteristics. The recent expansion has also seen the addition of equipment to be used for further analysis. A constant climate chamber will be used to determine long-term product behaviour through accelerated aging tests, the Permatran-W allows for the permeability of the materials to be measured, while a vacuum laminator will be used to produce small modules.
Madico says its expansion will reduce its reliance on third-party facilities, allowing them to streamline product development. Marina Temchenko, Madico’s R&D manager, says: “In-house testing abilities allow us to validate Protekt’s performance beyond current standards, while enabling us to produce backsheets that meet the specific needs of our customers.”
