Since the company’s inception in 2005, Mecasolar has manufactured 311MW of solar trackers – the equivalent of over 24,000 units installed in solar farms worldwide. The company’s order book currently shows 22MW of orders in place for the second half of 2011, with further purchases pending.
The company’s opening of a new manufacturing facility in Wallaceburg, Ontario in 2010 has helped the company’s sales figures as its trackers can carry the ‘Ontario content’ compliance mark.
“This allows customers to have a better rate, so they can apply the maximum feed-in tariff for ground solar systems. This is a competitive advantage for MECASOLAR solar products because it is the only international company in the tracker photovoltaic industry which has a manufacturing facility in Ontario,” said a company spokesperson.
Mecasolar has plans to expand its reach to the markets of Mexico, Brazil and India, where it plans to open offices in 2012.
