Mecasolar has adapted its tracker technology to supply single-axis solar trackers to an unspecified PV plant in Italy. Mecasolar, an OPDE group, has provided the 600kW plant 55 single-axis solar trackers, each producing 11.04kWp each and a rack that supports 48, 230W modules. The plant features 5x concentrators in addition to Tripower 10000TL inverters from SMA. The OPDE group started construction on six new solar farms in Italy at the beginning of last year to be situated in the cities of Tortona, Alessandria, Pedrosa and Fosano.
The company claims the trackers to be the most accurate in the market, normally having an accuracy of 2.88º to 1.44º. Following this first-ever experience with research and development for tracker adaptation to low concentration applications, the Mecasolar trackers are expected to achieve a precision of 0.5º, which adds to the recent launch of a 114.4kWp polar aligned tracker.
