Evergreen Solar has elected a familiar face as its new president and CEO for the immediate replacement of Richard Feldt. Michael El-Hillow will be taking over both positions for the company as well as having been re-elected as director of the company by the board of directors on September 22. El-Hillow was previously Chairman for Evergreen between October 2005 and January 2007, when he was enlisted as Evergreen’s CFO and in 2009 promoted to COO of the company.
El-Hillow will be continuing his management of the operations while Evergreen starts its search for a new CFO. In the mean time, Paul Kawa, corporate controller, will serve as interim CFO. Additionally, Edward Grady, lead independent director of the board, will take over for Richard Feldt as chairman of the board.
Grady commented on El-Hillow’s appoint, stating, “In his roles as both corporate executive and board member Mike has played an instrumental role in both our evolution and growth. His leadership has been a catalyst in Evergreen’s expansion from a small regional technology company into a global manufacturing and customer service organization with facilities and offices in the United States, Europe and Asia. In addition to his financial role, Mike assumed significant operational responsibilities over the last year. His direct leadership is driving our Devens facility to exceed all of its operating goals as well as enabling Evergreen to move decisively with its expansion in China.”
