A report from Bloomberg says that Moser Baer has recently closed a solar cell manufacturing plant to carry out upgrades that would result in higher cell efficiencies. Moser Baer was said to have confirmed the temporary shutdown but had declined to say when the upgrades would be completed and production restored.
Recently, Moser Baer said in a statement covering FY2011 results that the first phase of a module line expansion plan had been completed and that production was ‘poised’ to commence in the second quarter of 2011.
Moser Baer had also reported shipments of 29MW for its Q4 FY11, the highest recorded quarterly shipments.
The company is an emerging major EPC player in India. K.N Subramanium, CEO of Moser Baer Solar Systems, said that India was expected to install 1.5GW of PV in the country over the next 12 months.
The company has also highlighted that it implemented India’s first 5MW solar farm, and hundreds of small solar system projects across the country had been completed.
