Taiwan-based major PV producer, Motech Industries sales in December faltered after a strong recovery in November.
Motech reported sales of NT$1,508 million (US$33 million) in December 2014, down from NT$1,805 million (US$57.8 million) in the previous month, a 16.48% decrease.
Unaudited sales for 2014 were NT$20,024 million (US$625.8 million), compared to NT$ 21,350 million in 2013.
Despite a strong market recovery in 2014, Motech was the most impacted of Taiwan-based solar cell manufacturers in respect to the US anti-dumping case against Chinese and Taiwanese cell producers, having a higher dependence on sales to Chinese PV module manufacturers than rivals.
Motech recently announced it would be merging with smaller rival, Topcell Solar International (TSI), potentially creating the largest merchant solar cell producer, with around 3GW of capacity. Neo Solar Power has been the largest merchant solar cell producer in Taiwan, and the world, for several years.
