M+W Zander has completed Q-Cells’ solar cell manufacturing facility in Malaysia on time, and the factory is now at the stage where it is ready for equipment installation. Armed with a relatively brief 8-month timeframe for design and construction, M+W Zander managed to deliver to plan the three-storey solar cell factory which features eight production lines and an annual output of 500MWp.
M+W Zander took on the complete value chain in this timespan from site planning, design, procurement, construction management and installation and hook-up of process equipment. Work on the factory, which began in February 2008, involved a huge team of engineers from both Malaysia and Germany.
“Thanks to the close collaboration of our teams within M+W Zander Group we could accelerate the project enormously to meet the challenging timeframe”, said Martin Beigl and Helmut Kurzboeck, Managing Directors of M+W Zander in Germany and Asia.
