M+W Zander has been chosen by the Norwegian Renewable Energy Corporation (REC) as the contractor for the new photovoltaics manufacturing development in Singapore. The order volume is estimated to be within the three-digit million Euros range. M+W’s work will encompass the planning and construction for the cells and modules part of the integrated solar complex which includes the hook-up of the process tools.
“It is an important success for M+W Zander to receive a major order from the world’s largest producers of polysilicon and wafers for solar applications”, said Jürgen Wild, Speaker of the M+W Zander management board. “After having reached its full capacity this project will demonstrate the high competitiveness of REC’s solar energy solutions,” Wild concluded.
The contract is part of phase 1 development for REC’s Singapore plant. The intended cell capacity for this phase is expected to be around 550MW from eight production lines. The projected capacity for the modules is calculated at roughly 590MW from four production lines.
