In a move to expand its business in the United States, MX Solar USA has signed a long-term lease with real estate company DCT Industrial Trust for a 138,200 sq ft bulk distribution facility in Somerset, NJ. The US division of the Italian photovoltaic module and system integrator firm plans to develop the site for the manufacture and distribution of crystalline-silicon solar panels for the domestic and European markets.
MX Solar cited the facility’s proximity to the Ports of New Jersey, functionality of the building, and the healthy labor force in the region as reasons for choosing the site.
“DCT Industrial’s New Jersey team immediately established a personal relationship with us,” said Carlos Santoro, director of business development for MX Solar USA. “We were able to communicate directly with them regarding a variety of issues, each of which was addressed in a timely and professional manner.
“They were very understanding and flexible, and worked with us closely to address our needs. Thanks to DCT Industrial’s excellent collaboration, we were able to close our lease contract in a short time and to our complete satisfaction,” he added.
No further details on the scope of the module assembly line, timeline for construction and completion, or the specific terms of the lease have been disclosed.
