Nanosolar has installed a 1MW ground-mounted solar project at Camp Roberts, California, the company has announced. The installation at the National Guard's training facility in San Miguel is equipped with 4,992 Nanosolar panels and part of the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Energy Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP). Under this program, different green technologies are tested to optimize energy generation and cost reduction as well as reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
“Our project at Camp Roberts shows how our technology can be used for both military and non-military applications, on a path to greater energy independence,” commented Eugenia Corrales, Nanosolar’s CEO. “Nanosolar is on track to deliver the most cost-efficient solar electricity, with the expectation that we can achieve grid parity with non-renewable energy resources by 2015.”
