Product Briefing Outline: Silfab’s new photovoltaic modules SLA 230-245M originate from the company’s R&D team with 30 years of experience in solar technologies development. The new modules are built with 60 cells in monocrystalline silicon, with a total area of 156×156 mm, the SLA series is specifically developed for grid-connected, feed-in-tariffs compatible, photovoltaic plants. The modules are available in different models, with a peak power ranging from 230 (14.1%) to 245 Wp (15.0%).
Problem: Utility-scale power plants require high performance modules to produce maximum return on investments. High durability is required for applications in harsh environments for long-term performance. Compact designs also allow greater module density to boost overall power output of a give plant size.
Solution: Built with anodized aluminum frame and low-iron front tempered glass (3.2 mm thick), the modules can fully operate under the most adverse environmental conditions, including 25mm hailstones speeding at a magnitude of 83 km/hr (Fraunhofer Institute tested). High-transparent glass enables both direct and diffuse solar radiation, thus providing improved response spectrum but also optimal performances in low light conditions. The PV cells are laminated between films of (EVA) ethylene vinyl acetate, tempered glass and white backsheet ensuring an ideal waterproof protection. The modules are framed in an anodized aluminium chassis with 6 engraved holes used for the installation. The frame is practical and compact and allows a simple and fast installation. In order to avoid water, and therefore ice formation, the aluminium frame is supplied with 8 drainage holes.
Applications: Utility-scale photovoltaic power plants.
Platform: The modules occupy a surface of 1.63 square meters (dimensions: 1650 x 990 x 38mm) and weight 19 Kg, thus providing a balance between occupied surface and power output. High quality components include high-efficiency cells, EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer), tempered glass, backsheet, anodized aluminum frame and electrical fittings. A 10-year warranty on performances at 90% of power output is given as well as a 25-year warranty on performances at 80% of power output.
