Targray Technology International has launched a new paste from world leading manufacturer Giga Solar Materials. This new aluminum paste provides excellent back surface field (BSF) for mono and multicrystalline silicon solar cell wafers. The paste is designed for excellent efficiency, high material compatibility, adhesion strength, and a wide process window.
New low bowing aluminum pastes are necessary to enable cell manufacturers to save costs and move to thinner silicon wafers while maintaining low cell breakage rates. In addition, cell manufacturers are under constant pressure for efficiency gains to drive down the cost per watt.
A good rear aluminum paste must provide an excellent back surface field to enable high cell efficiency. In addition, it must be highly compatible with a variety on silicon wafers and have excellent adhesion qualities to overcome environmental stress testing at the module level. Another important property is its printability; a paste must transfer in a reliable and consistent manner for tight manufacturing controls and performance. It must also be compatible with a variety of front and back silver paste by performing well under a wide process window for cofiring of all three pastes.

Giga Solar’s backside aluminum paste is designed for excellent efficiency, low bowing, high material compatibility, better adhesion strength and wide process window. It is claimed to have excellent back surface field formation leading to high efficiency. Capabilities include: low bowing (<1.5mm for 180um thickness wafer); compatibility with mono and multicrystalline wafers and backside silver paste; adhesion quality (>3N/cm); cofireable with back- and frontside Ag pastes; wide process window with silver front side paste; and RoHS compliant and Pb free.
