Photonic solutions company Newport Corp. has received ISO/IEC 17025 certification for its Photovoltaic Laboratory at Newport’s Technology and Applications Center (TAC-PV Lab), located in Irvine, California. The accreditation was awarded by the American Association of Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA).
The new TAC-PV Lab is one of the few laboratories that is equipped and accredited to perform measurements and provide calibration data for solar cells’ electrical performance. The company’s Industrial Applications Lab in Mountain View, California, and its Photovoltaic Applications Lab in Stahnsdorf, Germany, are involved in ongoing research into solar module performance.
“We are very excited to offer solar cell characterization services for the rapidly growing photovoltaic market,” said Matt O’Donnell, TAC-PV’s lab manager. “We look forward to collaborating with the market leaders in solar energy development and continuing our support of the research community. Newport’s new TAC-PV Lab will facilitate the development and production of more efficient PV devices.”
