PV developer Canadian Solar has denied entering a project joint venture in India, but reiterated that is looking at options for building a module plant and other solar project opportunities in the country.

It had been reported by local media that Canadian Solar had entered a joint venture named Sarus Solar with EPC company Guycan Solar and investment firm Mackie Research Capital Corporation to develop a 500MW solar facility in Maharashtra, but a Canadian Solar spokesperson said the firm “did not enter any JV as yet”.

The spokesperson also said: “We are evaluating the possibility of building a module plant [in India] to participate in the expected growth we see in the coming years as the country works to reach its 100GW solar installation target. We also look at project opportunities but as yet do not have any immediate opportunities to announce."
