Asia-based EVA encapsulant material producer HIUV New Materials said it was ramping up capacity to 117 million m2 per year, in order serve the equivalent of 9GW of PV module production.

Since 2014, HIUV had a capacity of 3GW and a 16 EVA extrusion lines. The expansion was expected to be completed in June, 2016.

The company had previously invested in 2015 in developing technology to offer special encapsulants for the lamination of double glass PV modules.

Market leader Hangzhou First PV Material Co is also adding capacity to meet demand, having started construction of a 180 million square meter EVA film production project in 2015, bringing equivalent capacity to about 28.8GW.
